The 5 clues on how to shortcut your way to a better life

Where are your actions not creating what you want? Continuing to do them without any connection to how silly and outdated they’ve become.

How can you create a better tomorrow, if all your old baggage bogs you down?

I remember an ahh hah moment, in my mid-20’s when I sat in front of a corporate executive. Thankfully, he was also a friend. When, he offered me a fireball candy. Tossing it in my mouth until the heat was too much. Quickly, I plucked it out of my mouth to blow on it as I had always done. This time however I was met with a crazy glare and a “What are you doing?” which took me by surprise. He snapped me back into reality as I explained, justifying my sanity or lack there of at the time. You see, when I was 4 we used to go to the candy store and this was mom’s advice. Made sense at the time, so I just kept doing it. That was until someone pointed out differently.

Where have you turned up your heat, just going through the motions, reacting or worse creating an unnecessary crisis as you go about the day?

  • Dieting.. Lulling you into a false sense of health as you wage war on your body.
  • Resolutions.. Short bursts of progress until every-day life gets in the way.
  • Time Management.. Focus on doing more today instead of supporting growth & future ideals.
  • Health.. Fading resource you painfully earn the right to keep instead of a birthright that supports you.
  • Responsibility.. Enabling others to slack off or drop the ball and a distraction of living the live you’re meant for.

I was no longer connected to the process of what I was doing and blindly went on as I had always done until someone pointed out how what I was doing made absolutely no sense.

What daily habits and personal care routines are you wasting your time without even questioning if it’s the right thing to do for you, or if there’s an easier or updated solution? Wonder how much time, effort and energy you put into things that can be achieved in a much simpler fashion.

You’d be surprised at how much opportunity you have to improve as well as eliminate steps in your day freeing up time to go after your dreams. Think of how enjoyable life would be.

How well are you doing? Think of how many times you mindlessly go through the day on autopilot, or pushing to get through.

Is Your To-Do list getting in the way of your dreams?

To Do or Not To-Do, thinking that is the question?

Most would look to see how much they could accomplish,
to say Yes or No to the task, but you need to go much
deeper than that.

Ask yourself…

Are you getting lost
in your struggle?

Knowing you can do so much
more in life. Instead you’re caught
up in the everyday grind with
no time to go after what you really want, and feeling worse from the wear.

Sound familiar?

Thinking that in order to get more you have to do more.
NO WAY!

That's what got you here in the first place.
“If you always do what you’ve always done,
you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”
                   ~ Henry Ford

After all these years of continuing to add in more of the same,
what you’ve really accomplished is overload, running around
spending your time being busy doing lots of stuff. Hoping one day
to wake up and have a better life and that all this effort will
pay off.

However, accumulating more To-Do’s on your list gets
in the way of making any real difference. So, caught up in getting
it done and just plain being busy, that you no longer even
have time to make the best choices for your future.

Reality Check...It’s all a head game you play, tricking yourself
into believing you’re making progress instead of fighting so
hard to remain exactly where you’re at today.

Not the best strategy for a better tomorrow!

Time to end this cycle…

I’m excited to announce the launching of my

are important for you to have. Exploring how you can shift
what you’re doing now to make a major impact in getting the results
you desire…not by doing more but in discovering how to make
better choices and do more that matters to create that positive

Take A Break From Technology

“Just turn off your phone!”

“Why can’t you just switch it off?”

“Can’t we just talk to each other?”

You’ve probably received many warnings to turn off your phone and other devices. You may have even rolled your eyes when you heard them. I mean, can you imagine living without technology? It opens up possibilities for communication previously past generations would have deemed impossible.

Is it really that dangerous to stay connected to our devices?

The answer is a resounding YES.

The Effects Of Always Being On

Electronics make our lives better in many ways, including keeping us in touch with friends and family around the world. But being connected to others constantly can wear on our well-being. It can cut into our long-term happiness and lower our overall satisfaction with life.

The benefits of taking a digital detox (or even small steps toward one) are far-reaching. People who have taken a break from technology report a sense of feeling more closely connected to those around them. When we’re tied to our technological devices, our priorities shift from spending time with our loved ones in person and can easily disrupt our well-being. Stress can easily increase. We may feel more depressed and more alone in general when we spend an excessive amount of time using electronics to communicate with others, rather than communicating face to face.

How To Do A Digital Detox (Without Going Crazy)

A digital detox doesn’t have to mean you cut out technology altogether. You can take gentle steps toward using your devices less and listening to your body and mind more.

Here are a few guidelines to create your own digital detox. Use as many or as few as you desire:

  1. Purge yourself of unnecessary electronic equipment. This approach can apply to entire devices all the way down to the apps on your phone. Take time to be critical about which electronics you use with regularity. Even eliminating half the apps on your phone narrows down your electronic clutter. It can lighten your mental load, even if you don’t stop using your phone altogether.
  2. Schedule your social media posts. Taking just a little extra time to schedule social media posts ahead of time frees you up to post on social media at your leisure. There’s no need to update the world (or your pages) every day if you already have content scheduled.
  3. Write in a journal. Give yourself a break from structuring every sentence to be perfect for Facebook. Some free writing in a journal can ease your mind and ease your desire to record yourself.
  4. Reach out to friends in person or through a phone call. One easy break you can take from technology is to reach out to your friends personally whenever you need support. Most of us will just text when we want to communicate, but taking some time to call or meet in person can create welcome break from electronic communication.
  5. Give yourself “breaks” for 1-2 days. You don’t have to give up your electronics for a very long time if you’re not ready to do so. Just take the weekend off, or stop at a certain time after work. Over time, you may even find these breaks to be addictive!

Have you ever attempted a digital detox? How did it go? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

7 Ways To Boost Your Brain Power

Are you doomed to slower reflexes and poor memory as you age?

Science says, “Not necessarily!”

Every person’s brain, like their body, is uniquely different. Not everyone is subject to the slowing down of mental faculties that tends to come with aging.

The Benefits of Brain Exercises

Like every muscle, the brain needs stimulation and exercise to sustain its function. Exercising the brain has as many benefits as exercising the body: You’ll be able to remember things later on in life, you won’t forget as many details about other people, and you won’t have as many “senior moments” as perhaps you may fear.

But brain training isn’t limited to those who are approaching their golden years. Experiments with multiple sclerosis patients with cognitive damage have shown that doing activities specifically tied to brain training can help the brain develop stronger connections. Their brains literally became stronger through the power of exercise. There’s also a suggestion that doing brain exercises early in life can expand your later amount of cognitive reserve (i.e. how much your brain can bounce back as you age).

Some Brain Exercises You Can Complete On Your Own

Not all brain exercises need a machine or website to provide benefits to their users. Lumosity and NeuroNation have become popular in recent years, and have proven very popular. But these activities still help give your brain a boost:

  1. What’s the last full book you read? The more you stimulate your brain by learning, the harder and longer your brain will be able to work.
  2. Protecting your head. Wear a helmet, and take proper precautions if you think you may have a risk of a concussion. This endangers your brain health more than anything else.
  3. Staying in touch with friends. Maintaining social ties is extremely important. Having people around to talk to and challenge you keeps your brain working in a way that it wouldn’t ever work when you’re by yourself.
  4. Talk about problems. Holding on to problems is much more troublesome to your health than just annoying you in the moment. It can lead to serious stress, and can even impair your brain’s abilities later in life. So, if you’re feeling depressed or have a mental problem you want to address, bring it up sooner rather than later. You’ll save yourself a lot of stress and potential harm to your brain.
  5. Try new things. Force your brain to be creative, whether by building something in your backyard or playing a game of squash for the first time. It’ll do your brain good!
  6. Quit smoking. This decision benefits many different parts of your body, but the fact that your brain will potentially reverse deterioration is a very good benefit!
  7. Sleep more. Sleep doesn’t just restore your body. Your mind also benefits from having enough time to rest through the night.

Do you do brain exercises? If so, what have you found benefits you most?
